Two Peas out of the Pod...

It's time to move on to the next chapter of this amazing journey. We've started a new blog now that the girls have entered this world. Look to the right side of the page and you'll find the link to the new site and be able to go back and forth between sites. We hope the pictures make you smile. Thank you for all of your love and support...we are so grateful!

Still waiting...

We're 36 weeks, five days and still counting! We've come a long way since our December hospital stay and we couldn't be more grateful! We will be induced Friday morning February 15...unless the babies have other ideas between now and then. We'll keep you posted!

Another milestone...

We are now 34 weeks and counting! Every single day is such a gift for these babies as they grow and develop. We had an ultrasound today and everyone seems to be doing well. The babies are literally lying on top of each other and have managed to get themselves in quite interesting positions. Bedrest for Melanie continues...thank you to all of you for your love and support. We are so blessed to have such amazing people in our lives.

A Baby Shower

My wonderful friends Susan, Whitney, and Mandy threw me an amazing baby shower; the theme was "two peas in a pod." Thank you to everyone for your generosity and kindness. It was a very special day for me which I will never forget.

Every day is a blessing...

We had our 32 week ultrasound. Both of the girls are doing well. Baby A is weighing 3lb 15oz and Baby B is 3lbs 13oz. We were able to see a few more 3D images of Baby A this time. In the image you can see her left eye, nose, mouth, and chubby cheeks. The other image of Baby A is a frontal face shot. In the picture of Baby B you can see her knee cap in front of her lips! They never cease to amaze us. Melanie is still on bed rest...only five weeks to go. Her mom came to visit for a long weekend which was wonderful for all of us. Thanks Mom!

We're home!

After six days in the hospital, we're over joyed to be home. For now the contractions seem to be under control and Melanie will spend the duration of her pregnancy on bed rest. So, feel free to call or email her anytime...she'd appreciate the distraction and entertainment. Happy holidays!

melanie drunk on mag

We'll be spending our Christmas together in the hospital while Melanie enjoys her IV of magnesium sulfate in an attempt to stop unwanted contractions. Test results indicate our baby girls won't be here for at least another two weeks. Beyond that, we're unsure but hoping for the best.

watch and wonder

Be patient and watch the 3-dimensional image of Baby B's face appear before your eyes.

A small glimpse inside...

29 weeks!!! We had the most amazing ultrasound this week! They decided to try a few 3D images of our babies. As you can see, Baby B was in a better position so we were able to get a clearer view of her. Look at that nose, those cheeks, what adorable lips! Baby B has her mouth open in one picture. :) Melanie, of course, got all teary eyed when she saw those faces. As you look at the pictures you can see a lot of "stuff" around the faces; the curly thing is the umbilical cord. The only image of Baby A is a little hard for some to see. It is just her eyes, nose, cheeks, and possibly part of her upper lip. Baby A weighs approximately 3lbs 1 oz and Baby B is at 2lbs 13oz. They are about 15 inches long. We were able to see their eyes in detail: the iris and pupil. We watched them blink and move their eyes as well. We are so in love with these girls already.

Where's the tree?

We got our Christmas tree up and decorated along with our outside decorations; we just love the twinkling lights. Many people requested a look at Melanie's belly, so we thought we would humor you all with a picture. Yes, there is quite the slope there. :) We're still not used to decorating in 75 degree weather...ahh, life is good.

New Video!

We recently discovered how to add video to this blog. Here's a clip from the 12-week ultrasound. At this point, we were 80% sure Baby B was a boy...since then we have confirmed, and reconfirmed that she's a little girl. The video contains audio starting at 14 seconds so remember to turn up the volume on your PC. More video to follow...

Our two little turkeys at 24 weeks...

Wow. That seems to be the word that most frequently crosses our lips these days. We're in utter amazement of these two little girls. Their movements are getting stronger and much more noticeable. They each weigh in at little under two lbs and measure about 12 inches in length. The ultrasound pictures are: profile of face (we actually watched her swallow), face looking straight on, waving hand, and a foot (which measures a little under two inches). We've spent many hours contemplating names; which usually ends up in some silly conclusion such as Thelma and Louise. :)

The Girls come for a visit...

Melanie enjoyed a much anticipated visit from her mom, sister, and three nieces. Ellie, the baby, was born just five weeks before the visit. It was so wonderful to finally meet her and see her beautiful face in person. They had an amazing time together and cherished every moment.

Half way there!!!

20 weeks and counting! We can't believe we're half way to our due date! The ultrasound was wonderful. In these pictures you can see the faces; notice Baby B even has her mouth open while she was swallowing! They are doing exceptional: weighing in at 13 ounces and 14 ounces and about 10 inches long. Baby B kept sitting on Baby A's head, but other than that they seem to be behaving well. :) Tim and Melanie are both enjoying feeling their movements...simply amazing.

The Loosbrock's come to Texas...

Tim's sister, Tammy, and her four wonderful kids (Brittany, Nick, Alex, and Zack) all came for a visit. We had such a wonderful time together. We went to the beach, the water park, the zoo, NASA, a battleship...every minute was exciting! It was so great to see them and spend some time together. As you can see, Alex and Zack are twins so it was fun hearing about Tammy's experiences and imagine what excitement we have to look forward to! :)

Ooops!!!

Apparently, 80% accurate isn't accurate enough. Baby B is, in fact, a girl! Which means we're expecting two precious daughters. Tim will now have to come up with two names a little more feminine than "Chuck and Larry." :) Melanie feels a little bad for Tim, and especially for her Dad...this means he'll have five granddaughters. This 16 week ultrasound was amazing; we saw the detail of the brains, all four heart chambers, kidneys, bladders, fingers and toes. We are truly blessed! They are measuring between 7-8 inches and 6-7 ounces. The heartbeats were strong and they never stopped moving, we were fascinated. (Click on the photos to get a larger view!)

"Crash into you..."

We had fun at our annual Dave Mathews Band concert. Tim thought it would be hilarious to try to balance his beer on Melanie's stomach. The funny part is it almost stayed! :)

Amazing!

12 week ultrasound:
It's a GIRL and a BOY...there's at least an 80% chance anyway. How exciting! Baby B is a boy (you can see his 'manhood' quite clearly in the third picture) and Baby A is a girl (look for the letter in the bottom left corner). They are measuring about 6.5 cm, with the girl a little ahead. They both moved the entire ultrasound, he was punching her and she was kicking him! Hilarious! The sibling rivalry has begun already! Dr. Rowe says she's a "Drama Queen" and he's a "Muscle Man." :) The heartbeats sounded strong, between 155-160 bpm. All major organs are developed at this point and they seem to be passing all their "tests and measurements" with flying colors. They must be overachievers like their dad.

Eight week ultrasound: We heard heartbeats! 173 and 175 bpm. It was so amazing! On Baby A you can see all four limbs. Baby B stayed on it's head most of the time. We did get a glimpse of it's brain and the prominent circle you see is it's yolk sac, which will soon disappear. At this stage, they are measuring about 2 cm and very similar. Melanie "graduated" from her amazing doctor, Dr. Valdes. There were a lot of hugs and smiles. Believe it or not, I think she might miss her weekly visits with the office.

My pod has two peas...

Melanie's first maternity shirt that Tim bought her. She's been wanting one of these cute shirts for two years and now she finally get's to wear one!

TWINS!!!!

Five weeks along:
We couldn't believe our eyes, the ultrasound shows Baby A and Baby B...we're having TWINS!!
